Interrupting Reactivity

The Power of Pausing is about interrupting reactivity to reclaim presence. This one practice — pausing — can change everything. It’s the difference between reacting out of habit… and responding from wisdom. Between being hijacked by your nervous system… and reclaiming your presence. We live in a world that values speed. We reward quick answers, fast decisions, instant replies. But in this urgency, we often lose connection — with ourselves, with others, with what truly matters. The pause is not a delay. It’s not weakness. It’s power.

Breaking Free From The Rat Race

This session dives into a common, and often invisible, drain on our energy, confidence, and clarity: The Comparison Trap. We’ve all felt it: Scrolling through LinkedIn, you see someone’s career leap. Opening Instagram, you witness someone’s seemingly perfect life. Hearing a colleague speak, you suddenly question your own voice. Comparison shows up as: “I should be further along.” And without realizing it, our grounded presence is replaced by self-doubt, contraction, and misalignment. How would you like to flip that script? .

Tools taught to alumni at Harvard Business School and Young Global Leaders at the World Economic Forum offices in Geneva, Switzerland.

Each Month You'll Receive

LIVE Monthly 60-Minute Group Session

Once a month, usually on a Sunday at 6:00 PM EST / 3:00 PM PST, we gather for a LIVE group session via Zoom. After tuning in, Dr. Kennedy leads a 15-minute discussion of the monthly theme. Then, she leads the group in a 30-minute breath and meditation practice related to the theme, harnessing the power of our collective focus. The session ends with a 15-minute Q&A to answer any questions that arise. If you are unable to attend live, you will be able to watch or listen to the recordings of the sessions, as well as ask questions in the course hub.

Monthly Mindset Audio Training

Every month, you’ll receive a new mindset audio training elaborating on that month’s theme. The guided audio will bring additional depth and subtlety to the monthly focus, enabling you to deepen your understanding and accelerate your growth. A mix of motivation and evidence-based cognitive techniques like meditation and visualization, the training will help to prime the brain for success.

Monthly Practice Guide

Every month, you’ll receive a written practice guide summarizing the month’s theme and core practices and offering reflection prompts for journaling. The practice guide will also include suggestions for mindfulness practices related to the month's topic. In combination with the guided audio, the practice guide will create a potent support system for your daily practice and a gateway to grounded power and an expansive mindset.

Access to Media Library

Every month, videos and audio trainings will be added to the library related to the theme creating a growing knowledge base. With annual membership, you will be able to go directly to specific topics and/or practices, as well as recordings of the full live sessions. Regardless of when you join the group, you will not miss anything because you will have access to the previous sessions (though being there live offers the greatest benefit). Monthly members receive that month's session, related audio and practice guide.

Teresa Kay-Aba Kennedy, Ph.D., MBA, RYT, CPC

Teresa Kay-Aba Kennedy is redefining how we live, work, and inhabit the planet. A Harvard Business School-trained strategist, global transformational leader and speaker/moderator/curator at high-level events, she is the creator of the Embodied Success® Coaching System and the IAmPowerLiving.com empowerment platform. For over 20 years, she has been training people around the world in her "whole-person" approach to wellness, empowerment, and success—tapping into her unique multi-disciplinary background, real-world experience, and deep interest in human potential. She integrates neuroscience, leadership, and embodiment practices to help high achievers play full out without burnout, navigate change and uncertainty with ease and confidence, and be present for moment-to-moment joy. Former VP at MTV Networks and founder of VH1 Online and VH1@Work Radio at the beginning of the commercial Internet, she is an innovator who understands the journey of the high-performing professional and has personally experienced it all… from success to near death to full-system transformation. After almost dying in 1997, she left her corporate career and founded the first yoga studio in Harlem. She has since led hundreds of transformative programs for organizations and events, while also advising companies on digital strategy, leadership development, and change management. A Certified Professional Coach from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), she has thousands of client-hours coaching executives and entrepreneurs.
She is seasoned at making contemplative practices accessible for a professional audience with deep credibility in both the business and yoga/wellness worlds. Considered a mind-body expert, she has over 1,000 hours of yoga teacher training and a comprehensive understanding of nervous system regulation (which she teaches in her State Shifting course and as a part of Embodied Success®). She served six years on the Board of Yoga Alliance (inc. Chair and Interim CEO) setting standards for yoga teaching in the U.S., and was one of the first African Americans featured on the cover of Yoga Journal. She has led programs on the mind-body connection for entities like the National Institutes of Health and Association of Black Cardiologists, and has even taught yoga to global leaders on a private section of The Great Wall of China. She is an advanced student of Sri Dharma Mittra and protégé of the late yoga master Tao Porchon-Lynch. Her initial teacher training was at Integral Yoga Institute and she participated in one of the last satsang gatherings (i.e., audience with a master) with Sri Swami Satchidananda (whose teachings inspired Dr. Dean Ornish's pioneering work on reversing heart disease). She is a National Spokesperson for the American Heart Association, and has written six books, including Tao's award-winning autobiography, Dancing Light: The Spiritual Side of Being Through the Eyes of a Modern Yoga Master. Called "smart with a heart," she has been a moderator at the United Nations, and was selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, including being a Discussion Leader for the Annual Meeting in Davos. She has received over 20 awards across disciplines, including the Women Who Dare To Be Different Award presented by Congressman Edolphus Towns and The Women’s Caucus. Her work has been featured in various media, from CNN to Oprah's book, Live Your Best Life!

A Superpower for Visionaries

This month’s theme is one that sits at the heart of every meaningful transformation: Beginner’s Mind. We live in a world that praises expertise. Yet the paradox is that the more we accumulate knowledge or experience, the more likely we are to lose our openness to new insights. We start to see through filters—of expectation, judgment, habit. Beginner’s Mind invites us to remove those filters and approach life with curiosity, openness, and a lack of preconceptions—no matter how knowledgeable we are. It’s the mindset of a child exploring the world.
